The Vernacular Alpine Architecture in Blatten, Zermatt, Switzerland
We're in the stunning Blatten hamlet in Zermatt, Switzerland, and are looking at a brilliant piece of historical craftsmanship: the "mushroom stones" that form the foundations of the traditional chalets here. Known locally as "Stadelsteine" or "Mäuseplatten," these ingenious stones were designed to protect stored food and grain from pests.

Zum See, Zermatt, August 2025
Heruteu, is in Zermatt, Switzerland, to rebuild a historically significant retaining wall. The wall, located between Blatten and Zum See, once served as a road for local farmers and merchants and is on a hiking trail to the iconic Matterhorn.

Check out our latest Instagram post! We were in Zermatt, Switzerland, rebuilding and improving a crucial retaining wall for our friend, Robin Locher. The wall, which runs from Blatten to Zum See, provides a vital through road for local farmers and community members, alongside the existing hiking trail
